Sexually transmitted infections have become quite common among men and women in today’s society. One can contract sexually transmitted infections through unprotected vaginal, oral or anal sexual intercourse. Sharing your sex toys with an infected person can also cause you to contract a sexually transmitted infection. Men and women, who become sexually active at a very young age are at a greater risk of contracting sexually transmitted infections. A person who is suffering from a sexually transmitted infection is often quite embarrassed of the situation, because of which treatment is often neglected.

In earlier times, people who thought that they might have contracted a sexually transmitted infection visited a GUM clinic. This is a genitourinary clinic, which people could visit at almost all of the hospitals and healthcare centres. But unfortunately, in spite of the increasing number of people suffering from sexually transmitted infections, people do not tend to visit the GUM clinic for diagnosis of these infections.
